Primroses are native to both Europe and Asia, but they are quite common in the American garden. The Common Primrose (Primula Acaulis Primlet Purple) is often referred to as the English Primrose, and it is extremely popular for adding color to late winter and early spring borders in mild climates.

These mounded plants have purple flowers that look like bouquets of fragrant mini-roses with semi-double blooms. They are long-lasting as indoor house plants, but are otherwise typically grown as annuals.
